Manchester United have had a £50million bid for Raphael Varane rejected by Real Madrid, with the La Liga giants holding out for £80m.
The France star has rejected a new contract to stay at the Bernabeu and the club are resigned to selling him this summer as he only has 12 months to run on his deal in the Spanish capital.
Madrid, despite Varane’s contract situation, believe they can obtain a fee of closer to £80m and United will need to get closer to that fee if they want to sign the defender. Talks are said to be ongoing.
